Elevated Temperature Affects Avena sterilis ssp. ludoviciana Reproductive Biology

چکیده

The weed Avena sterilis ssp. ludoviciana has a high economic impact in the winter cereal crop production systems of Australia’s northern grains region (NGR). In NGR, frequency high-temperature periods at end is increasing. This shift climate may modify this weed’s maturity time and reproductive biology, thereby on production. study examined biology four A. biotypes relation to elevated temperature when applied different times during their seed development. Plants all were grown an ambient glasshouse (23/14 °C day/night). At panicle initiation, portion plants transferred (29/23 day/night) remained there until maturity. process plant movement was repeated three further occasions with separate batches plants, each 10 days apart. remaining kept under conditions for whole lifespan. exposed from initiation maturity, matured 18 earlier than conditions, had 30% fewer filled seeds, 37% lower mass, 40% less dormancy. Depending duration temperature, predicted longevity ranged 1 4 years soil seedbank. All traits affected later stage If continues increase, then it lead development dormant populations that would be ready germinate re-infest next crops no-tillage conservation agriculture (that does not bury seeds deep profile). However, seasonal climatic variability NGR addition natural genetic contribute seedbank both seeds—making species even more difficult-to-control weed.

PHENETIC STUDIES IN AVENA SPECIES AND POPULATIONS OF IRAN

A multivariate statistical analysis was performed on morphological characters of sixty-one populations of Avena eriantha Dur. A. clauda Dur., A. barbata Pott ex Link., A. wiestii Steud., A. fatua L., A. sterilis ssp. ludoviciana L. and A. sativa L. Factor analysis revealed that intraspecific morphological variations are due to quantitative characters. Interspecific as well as intersectional rel...

Comparison of Various Sampling Methodologies for Site Specific Sterile Wild Oat (avena Sterilis) Management

The ability to manage weed infestations in a spatially precise manner will rely on the availability of efficient methods of mapping weed distributions. We have conducted a study designed to compare four different ground based methods for collecting georeferenced information on sterile wild oat infestation in a winter barley crop. Sampling was done at harvest time (when wild oat panicles are mos...

Non-target Site Tolerance Mechanisms Describe Tolerance to Glyphosate in Avena sterilis

Sterile wild oat (Avena sterilis L.) is an autogamous grass established in warm climate regions. This species has been used as a cover crop in Mediterranean perennial crops during the spring period prior to initiating competition with the main crop for water and nutrients. However, such cover crops need to be controlled (by glyphosate or tillage) before the beginning of summer period (due to th...

Influence of elevated ambient temperature on reproductive performance of boars.

Twelve Yorkshire boars were randomly assigned to one of two temperature controlled chambers to determine the influence of elevated ambient temperature on reproductive performance. Heat stressed boars were exposed to 34.5 -+ 1.0 C for 8 hr and 31.0 + 1.0 C for 16 hr daily for 90 days. Control boars were maintained at 23.0 -+ 1.0 C throughout the experimental period. Semen was collected twice wee...
